20 years ago, when I was 13 years old, Resident Evil 2 released on the Playstation. The first one was groundbreaking and had quickly become one of my favorites on the console, so my excitement for the second one was overwhelming. The game ended up surpassing even the first game in nearly every regard and has remained one of my favorite game 20 years later.
A few years ago, when Capcom finally announced that they were finally remaking the game, I was excited, but also skeptical. Could Capcom really update this gem of a game with the love and care that it deserves?
Yes. Yes they can.
5 minutes into the remake, you can already feel the amount of love and care that was poured into it. Now featuring a 3rd person, over the shoulder camera as found in Resident Evil 4, 5 and 6 but with the graphics engine of Resident Evil 7, it’s a sight to behold. The hallways are dark, the monsters are vicious and the scares are here. I don’t want to spoil much of the story or events in this game because everyone deserves to experience them on their own, but if you like Resident Evil or survival horror games, then you’re going to love this game.
